“Research has shown that when students receive writing instruction, their reading fluency and comprehension improve.” (NCTE, 2017) We also know that children learn to read and write best through explicit and systematic instruction. Even the youngest students can be exposed to these techniques to begin to instill good habits. This three-part series will cover teaching writing and grammar beginning at the sentence level with a lot of practical examples and ideas to apply to the classroom right away.
