Teaching and Learning

We believe high-quality instruction starts with high-quality training and resources for our educators. The Muskingum Valley Educational Service Center’s (MVESC) Center for Leading and Learning promotes a holistic approach to education that includes a dedication to equity, well-rounded academics and key partnerships. We are committed to providing a comprehensive range of resources, including instructional best practices, professional development and technical assistance, to address the academic and behavioral needs of all students.

We support quality education.

We strive to provide innovative educational solutions that help deliver improved instructional practices, with the ultimate goal of improving student achievement. Our strategy aligns with the Ohio Department of Education’s Strategic Plan for Education. The academic areas include:

  • Foundational Knowledge and Skills
  • Leadership and Reasoning
  • Well-rounded Content
  • Social-Emotional Learning

We provide comprehensive professional learning opportunities.

Our Center for Leading and Learning provides professional learning opportunities that are coordinated, led and facilitated by experienced professionals. We have a variety of academic areas to choose from. Some of these include:

  • Data Organization for Analysis
Work with MVESC to organize state testing data in a special spreadsheet format, providing data and visuals for item analysis for districts and individual buildings. The goal is to work collaboratively with a district data lead to provide resources and tools needed to build a data-informed culture.
  • State-Required Training
Attend state training for the Ohio Teacher Evaluation System 1.0 and 2.0, Ohio Principal Evaluation System, Ohio School Counselor System and Mentor Training for Ohio’s Resident Educator Program (up to 10 educators).
  • Personalized, District-Based Days
Access MVESC consultants to create professional learning opportunities that align with the needs of your district, building or teacher teams. MVESC will provide two on-site days of professional learning with administrators, instructional staff, and/or paraprofessionals.
  • Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS)
MVESC consultants help to train building-based lead teams in PBIS Tier 1 (3-days) or coaching support for teams that have taken the training and are implementing.

See more information on our Professional Development page.

How can our Center for Leading and Learning help you?

MVESC tailors to the needs of member districts, bringing a variety of topics to life.  Our “in house” experts identify needs, design learning opportunities and search for funding through grants. We can offer the learning to you remotely, bring our team to your district or offer training here at our facilities. Contact us today!
