Special Education

The MVESC Special Education division is committed to providing our member districts with high quality, cost-effective programs. We offer direct-service programs that are tailored to the needs of individual districts through cooperative programs and/or collaborative agreements. Direct-service programs include classrooms for students with multiple disabilities, autism and emotional disturbances. Classroom availability varies by school district, and placement into these classrooms is determined by the child’s Individual Education Plan (IEP) team. The district of residence approves the child’s placement into these classrooms.

We also provide the related services required to appropriately serve children with low-incidence disabilities. Some of these services include occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech therapy, assistive technology and nursing.

Through collaboration and consultation, we provide a unique way to share the resources of schools, community agencies and families to ensure that children with disabilities receive a free and appropriate education (FAPE).
