Leaps and Bounds

MVESC offers a Perry County program for preschool children who have specific needs and would benefit from a structured teaching environment. The program is a joint effort of three school districts - Crooksville Exempted Village, New Lexington City and Northern Local.

Leaps and Bounds will be based on the STACK (Structured Teaching for Autistic and Communicatively Delayed Kids) methods. Strategies used in STACK classrooms decrease behavior challenges, increase the use of visually cued instruction to improve organization and independence and infuse other effective teaching methods into the program, such as Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS), Direct instruction and Applied Behavioral Analysis. The focus is on language development, behavior modification and/or independence.

This classroom is located at the Crooksville K-7 building in Crooksville, Ohio. Jessica Blosser is the teacher and Debbie Drake and Peggy Higgins are classroom assistants.
