The Multiple Disabilities Program also offers a post-secondary option housed at the MVESC Zanesville Office known as the BASICS (Building Accountable Students in Community Settings) Program. The BASICS program currently serves students from Crooksville Exempted Village, East Muskingum Local, Franklin Local, Maysville Local, New Lexington, Tri-Valley Local, West Muskingum Local and Zanesville City Schools.

We serve school-aged students with significant cognitive disabilities as determined by local school district Evaluation Team Reports (ETRs). Our students benefit from a modified curriculum that strengthens core academic skills with an emphasis on improving life/career skills. Following IDEA guidelines, all classroom services and decisions begin at the local district level and are determined through the Individualized Education Plan (IEP).

In our Multiple Disabilities Program, we create, collaborate and connect with our students, parents, local districts, supportive agencies and surrounding communities to ensure every students has the chance to make meaningful contributions and personal connections and to live a fulfilling life. We accomplish this through the daily creation of unique learning opportunities that highlight student strengths and improve challenges.
