Related Services

Occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech therapy, vision therapy and orientation and mobility training are provided for students whose Individualized Education Plan (IEP) contains validation for these services.  Therapists see students during school hours and provide them with necessary assistance to develop specific capacities and enable students to function in the school environment.

Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapy is available as a related service to pupils enrolled in special education programs when it is determined that therapy is required to assist a student with a disability in fine, gross motor and/or perceptual motor skills. Evaluation, direct service and consultation are the three components of the service provided by an occupational therapist.

Physical Therapy

Physical therapy is available as a related service to pupils enrolled in special education programs when it is determined that therapy is required and a prescription is requested of a physician. Evaluation, direct service and consultation are the three components of the service.

Speech Therapy

The Speech and Language Pathologist provides evaluation and direct services in the areas of language, articulation, fluency and voice, as well as consultative and individual therapy when appropriate.

The Special Education Director coordinates on-going networking and professional development opportunities for the local speech/language therapists.
